SYSTEM FAILURE
RE-IMAGINING THE GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN

EDEN Grow Systems was founded when looking to the future.  Many years ago, both Jeff Raymond, Eden Grow Systems COO/CTO, and I, Bart Womack, Eden Grow Systems CEO, looked to the horizon and saw a storm coming…

It was hard to imagine that this storm had the potential to completely change our lives. After all, we had and continue to live in the MOST prosperous and abundant time in the history of the world.  Surely it was impossible for the way of life we had known our entire lives to be taken away…

Wasn’t it?

Based on our research at the time, we concluded that it was only a matter of when, not if, the global supply chain would begin to breakdown.  Going back to the 70’s, MIT, commissioned by the Club of Rome, used a refined computer model that predicted this.

We could see the writing on the wall.  For those willing to do the analysis, the problem was obvious…a Just-in-Time Delivery System that had been overoptimized. The Off-Shoring of production to every far-flung area of the earth, with high profits and little accountability, had produced a system with unbelievable efficiency and profitability. It could produce and transport goods from anywhere on the Earth, from one area to another within weeks, if not days.  Yet this system was, and is, doomed to failure.  It was unable to compensate for shocks and disruptions, addicted to the continual flow of goods from every sector to maintain every other.  Like a high-powered sports car, the system was designed to outperform itself but could not handle disruption.  Any significant disruption to this system would trigger a cascade of failures that would eventually bring down the entire process like a house of cards.

We never knew from which direction or trigger the crisis would begin; however, without a doubt it is now here! NOW!

In an open letter Wednesday to heads of state attending the United Nations General  Assembly, the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and other industry groups warned of a "global transport system collapse" if governments do not restore freedom of movement to transport workers.

"Global supply chains are beginning to buckle as two years' worth of strain on transport workers take their toll," the groups wrote. The letter has also been signed by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Road Transport Union (IRU) and the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF). Together they represent 65 million transport workers globally.

The cascade of failures in the systems are mounting over time and becoming WORSE…not better…with no solution in sight…

The two largest ports on the U.S. West Coast, Long Beach and Los Angeles, are severely backed up and the problem only seems to be getting worse. Workers are desperately laboring hard to unload containers off ships, as more and more vessels arrive. Recently, at the two ports, all dock terminals were busy unloading container     ships, while more than 70 other ships floated along the coast waiting for their turn to     be unloaded. Literally, billions of dollars of product are floating offshore.

The lockdowns triggered in response to the COVID Pandemic have set off a chain reaction where all the strengths of the Global Supply Chain have now become liabilities.  The Wired together World of Globalism had at its core a fatal flaw.  That flaw, once triggered, could only multiply as the system failure became more widespread.

The Thanksgiving table may be a little bit barer this year, thanks to nationwide food shortages that are expected to make everything from turkey to canned cranberry sauce scarcer this fall.

So now we come to it…

What EDEN was founded to deal with is here.

We saw the flaw in the system and understood that at its core there was one fundamental problem.  That while it has been cheap and profitable to wire the world together, supplying the first world endless cheap goods and labor off the backs of the Chinese, Indians, and all other nations that would allow sweatshop conditions in a type of neocolonialism…the time has come for the world to admit this simple truth…

Globalism as we know it has failed and will continue to fail.  Its systemic weakness, once exposed, has and will continue to only grow worse.  We must come to terms with this reality and begin a dialogue of how to implement new solutions.

For many years I have ended my lectures and speeches on this topic with a term from Biology…Delta.  An organism will not change, until the pain of change becomes less than the pain of staying the same.

Our world has now reached the point of DELTA, where we must make a choice to continue to suffer with escalating degrees of pain as our situation worsens, or we can choose now to evolve...

EDEN was founded to address this problem.  And there is one, and only one, fundamental answer that can address this, as well as ensure a free and prosperous humanity.

The time has come for families and communities to come together.  Using next generation farming and energy production technologies to build micro-economies in their neighborhoods, towns, and cities.  By forming these micro-economies and micro-grid communities, they can efficiently begin to supply for themselves. For years, we at EDEN have perfected the growing and power systems, developed by NASA for off-world living, with ONE goal: To give People, Families, and Communities the ability to supply their own Food, Water, and Power.

The Microsoft cofounder and philanthropist Bill Gates owns 242,000 acres of farmland in the US, making him the largest private-farmland owner, an analysis by The Land Report found in January.

Walmart, Amazon, Costco, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates…all of them are moving to consolidate farming and distribution in a vertical integration because they understand, as we do, that the Future is Food.  And whoever controls the food, will control the future.

As the breakdown of the Just-In-Time System continues to cascade…as governments continue to print money to attempt to address the economic disruptions caused be their own policies…as MEGA corporations and MEGA Billionaires continue to consolidate food production…we are forced to make a choice.

We can live in a world where we are at the mercy of the powerful…or we can live in a world where The People have the power.

This is the question of our time, and how we answer it will determine the world that our children and grandchildren grow up in.

This is the message of EDEN.  We have the solutions. We can come together.

Together, we can…

FEED THE FUTURE
